The Return was created during a profound transition in my life.
I began this painting while preparing for CONSTELLATION, my duo exhibition with Emily Wenner, with the intention of bringing together two worlds of my painting practice — Organic Symmetry and landscape.
The seascape emerged from my journeys to the Pacific Coast this year for my work as an artist — returning to the ocean, celebrating art, and honoring the work I’ve been creating in the world.
As I was painting The Return, my father was nearing the end of his life.
One day, my son was sitting beside me while I painted. We were making art together and listening to a guided meditation when I learned of my father’s passing.

I can’t imagine a more honoring presence for that moment.
And somehow, a painting already titled The Return came to hold a significance I never could have planned.
The original will soon make its own journey back to the Pacific Coast, where it will live with its collectors near the ocean that helped inspire it.
This painting holds an incredibly meaningful place in my life. I’m deeply grateful to those who resonate with The Return and choose to welcome this work into their own collection.
